5 Things I Always Have in my Fridge
I love cooking and eating at home. I love the way I minimally season my food and the convenience factor is another plus. I also am a healthy eater and I enjoy learning how different ways to cook veggies or marinate my chicken! That being said, there are 5 key items I keep in my fridge at all times and they give me a feeling of comfort (I’m weird).
Eggs are a no brainer for me because they last nearly a month and they take less than 5 minutes to cook. They have healthy amount of both fat and protein and they keep me full for a long time.
I try not to drink regular milk since dairy doesn’t sit very well with me, so my go-to is organic vanilla almond milk from Whole Foods. I use it in everything. Every morning I use my Nespresso to make a vanilla almond milk latte and I’m obsessed. I also use almond milk for french toast, oatmeal, and cereal.
This may be gross to some of you, but canned white albacore tuna in water is one of the best sources of protein you can keep in your home. It is protein packed and so easy to make. I just add a little mayo and some onion powder and eat it in a sandwich or with veggies. It’s super healthy and I think it’s tasty! Don’t judge me people!
I love lemons!!! No really, I do. Whether I am using them in a recipe or just in my water, lemons are something I always have in my kitchen/fridge. They add a great source of flavor to your veggies, avocado toast, chicken, etc., and they have no calories. If ever my stomach is feeling funky I have hot water with lemon and it feels all better. My great-grandma Rose used to drink water with lemon every morning and night and she lived to be 100 years old. I’m named after her, my middle name is Rose and I’m out here trying to follow in her footsteps!
Another favorite of mine is the fresh ground almond butter and peanut butter from Whole Foods. They are natural, have no preservatives, and are tasty with literally anything. I often eat spoonfuls of almond butter plain, or I’ll put some in my oatmeal or eat a scoop with a banana for a snack. Protein filled and rich in fat, nut butters are a healthy snack and are also very satisfying!
