As if living in New York City wasn’t a good enough reason alone
Why I’m Moving to NYC
A lot has happened in the past year. I really have gotten to know myself better and I am still figuring out my life’s purpose, but I have wanted to live in New York City since the first time I visited at age seven. Today is the day I move nearly 3000 miles away from Los Angeles, where I was born and raised. Scary but exciting! This year, my goal is to open up to those of you who read my blog and who have been following me throughout my adventures! I can’t wait for you to get to know my better, so I thought I would start by sharing the three prominent reasons why I’m moving to NYC.
This may surprise the majority of you, but I am actually going to be attending Parsons School of Design while living in New York. I never got major FOMO, but I did feel like I missed out on a bit by not attending a 4-year university right after high school. I took 3 years to work, travel, and enjoy, but I’m ready to further my education and learn more about myself throughout my time at Parsons. I have been working since I was 13 and I’m really excited to be in the Fashion Marketing program and be able to expand my horizons in the fashion world and learn a new and possibly, more efficient approach to blogging and being a young entrepreneur. Who knows, maybe I’ll start my own clothing line!
As I’ve said many times before, the overall energy of New York City is something you will not be able to understand until you experience it for yourself. The ambition and drive align perfectly with my own. I often struggle to find inspiration in Los Angeles and feel unmotivated. The second I set off the plane in New York, I’m ready. The people in New York are so motivated and driven, the city itself is motivating and inspiring. From designer boutiques, to the contrast of people who take the subway, to the changing seasons, and all the history in between. I’m excited to be just minutes from my management and be able to attend meetings with clients I have only ever communicated with via email. This is just the beginning, I’m sure of it!
Change of Scenery
Lastly, as I have said before, I did not go to a 4-year university straight from high school and I have never lived on my own. My move is not only motivated by ambition, it is also a personal challenge for me to get to know myself better and live on my own. I’m told over and over again that your twenties are the best years for personal growth. I’m finding this entire experience to be so exciting and fun, but of course it is also scary. While I’ve traveled many places over the past few years and been to New York numerous times, this move will be unlike anything I have ever done before. Cheers to being spontaneous and I’ll let you know how the move goes! Wish me luck, I’m going to be #adulting big time.
